He has had roles in general management, engineering, and marketing at public and private companies. He has helped create and sell small, privately funded companies.

Brownell's four years as partner with a venture capital firm have increased his understanding of how to structure private companies for predictable growth and maximum return on investment.

In recent years Browell has returned to his programming roots, using Ruby on Rails to build two applications.
